1. Applications are invited from unmarried candidates who fulfil eligibility condition of Nationality as laid down by the Government of India for entry as Permanent Commission (PC) officers in Executive (GS) branch and Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in Executive and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy under University Entry Scheme (UES), for course commencing Jun 2019.


2 Who Can Apply. Applicant should be in the final year (4th / 5th year) in an AICTE recognised university with one of the following educational qualifications and should have obtained a minimum of 60 % aggregate marks till pre final year (till V semester of regular BE/B Tech and VII Semester of 5 year integrated degree course)

3 Call up for SSB. Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interview based on their performance during campus interviews.

4 Minimum percentage on Joining INA. Candidate must have minimum of 60% marks in overall aggregate on completion of regular BE/B Tech or integrated course (as per case). The candidate failing to meet minimum cut off percentage will not be permitted to join INA Ezhimala.

5. The following to be noted

(i) Technical Branch candidates as mentioned above at Ser. No. (d) & (e) can also be allotted Air Technical Specialisation and will be appointed as Air Technical Officers by IHQ MoD (Navy). (ii) Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree in 'avionics' will be eligible for Air Technical branch only.

(iiii) Candidates with pending backlog will not be permitted to appear for SSB interview.

(iv) Candidates will be shortlisted for SSB based on their first preference.

(v) However, if not shortlisted for the first preference, you may be considered for an alternate Branch/Specialisation/Cadre subject to availability of spare slots in SSB Batches of that Branch/Cadre.

(vi) Once shortlisted for a Branch/Cadre, subsequent stage of selection process (SSB, Medical & Meriting) will be exclusive for the Branch/Cadre only.

(vii) No equivalent stream of (BE/B Tech) as mentioned in Para 2 above will be considered valid for selection process at any stage.

6. Age. Born between 02 Jul 1995 to 01 Jul 1998 both dates inclusive

Note: -

(i) All candidates recommended by SSB will have to undergo medicals as per extant regulation. (ii) Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body, however, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal communities/from tribal areas as declared by the Government of India. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. 8. Promotions & Pay Scale. Promotion from Sub-Lieutenant to Commander is on time scale basis subject to completion of mandatory courses, sea time and medical conditions. The Pay Scale and promotion criteria are as follows:-

9. Allowances (as applicable). The rates of allowances applicable to officers are as follows (The revision of allowances as per 7th CPC, has not been finalised by the Government).


10. Candidates are to register and fill application on the recruitment website . The Candidates are to apply from 30 Jun 18 to 30 Jul 18. The process for applying online is explained in para 11 below.

11. Online (e-application).

Whilst filling up the e-application, it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available to enable the following:-

(a) Correct filling up of personal particulars. Details are to be filled up as given in the Matriculation Certificate.

(b) Fields such as e-mail address, mobile number are mandatory fields and need to be filled.

(c) All relevant documents (preferably in original) date of birth proof (10th & 12th certificate), 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet and marksheets till 5th /7th semester of regular BE/ B Tech and Integrated Course respectively, BE/ B Tech CGPA to % conversion formula and a recent passport size colour photograph should be scanned for attaching the same while filling up the application.

(d) If any application with scanned document is not legible/ readable for any reason, it will be rejected.

(e) Print 2 copies of this filled application form which have system generated application number. Carry one copy of application during Campus Interview. Another copy of application is to be carried alongwith original documents/certificates as mentioned in Para 11(c) above while appearing for SSB.

12. Obtain signature of the Principal/Dean /HoD on the declaration given at the end of the application.

13. Although candidates may be eligible for more than one Branch/ Specialisation/Cadre yet they have to submit only one application and mention priority at para 2 of Application Format . If candidate has submitted Duplicate Application, his /her candidature will be cancelled at any stage of Selection process. Note: - Your application is subject to subsequent scrutiny and the application can be rejected, if found INELIGIBLE/INVALID at any point of time.


14. The eligible candidates applying for entry will have to appear before a Naval Campus Selection Team for interview. The Candidates qualifying the campus interview will be shortlisted for SSB interview on the basis of his/her preference for the entry, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for particular entry. In case of excess candidates further shortlisitng will be based on percentage scored up to 5th semester in BE/B. Tech. The final selection of Branch/Specialization/Cadre will be decided by IHQ-MoD (Navy) depending on number of vacancies in particular Branch/Specialization/Cadre.

15. Candidates shortlisted during campus interview will be called for SSB interview at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore/ Visakhapatnam. Selected candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their E-mail or through SMS as provided by candidates in their application form.

(a) Conduct of SSB. Stage I test consisting of Officer Intelligence Rating(OIR) Test, Picture Perception and Discussion test (PPDT) will be conducted on the first day. Candidate who fails to qualify in Stage I will be routed back home on the same day. Stage II tests will comprise of Psychological testing, Group Task, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. No compensation will be paid in case of any injury sustained as a result of tests. The duration of SSB will be 05 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Special Medical Examination for approximate duration of 05 days at nearest military hospital.

(b) Change of SSB centre is not permissible. Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates is to be addressed to the Call-up Officer of the concerned SSB. Award of fresh dates, would be subject to availability of date and batches at SSB centre.

(c) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training based on All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

(d) Return First Class (AC III Tier/AC Chair Car) rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for this Commission on production of railway ticket. Candidates will carry photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No & IFSC details are mentioned, while appearing for SSB.


16. The selected candidates will be appointed in the rank of Sub Lieutenant on the date decided by the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy) [IHQ-MoD(N)]. The Officers will be on probation for a period of two years or till completion of their initial training (whichever is later), during which they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory. The individuals who are granted PC will be entitled to a stipend equal to Full Basic Pay of the Rank, while those granted SSC will be entitled for a stipend equal to Half Basic Pay of the Rank, for the period from date of appointment to date of reporting at Naval Academy. This will be payable as a lump sum stipend at the time of joining INA, Ezhimala for training. The individuals will be entitled to normal pay and allowances from the date they report to a Naval Establishment for training or from the day the training commences, whichever is later”.

17. Candidates of SSC for GS(X), NA, IT and GS (Tech) (Engineering &Electrical) will serve for 12 years, extendable to 14 years. The extension is subject to Service requirements and performance/ willingness of candidate/vacancies.

18. Short Service Commission (for ATC) is granted initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02+02 years) subject to the service requirement, performance and willingness of candidates. No extension will be given beyond 14 years. TRAINING OF CANDIDATES APPOINTED

19. The training is tentatively scheduled to commence in June 2019 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

20. Candidates finally selected for UES, will be inducted as Officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo 22 weeks Naval Orientation Course at the INA, Ezhimala, followed by professional training in Naval Ships and Training Establishments. In case of Executive (General Service) entry, course duration of NOC at INA would be 44 weeks.


(a) They will be on probation for a period of two years which will commence from the date of grant of the rank of Sub Lt and will terminate after two years or on completion of initial training (whichever is later). During probation they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory.

(b) Only unmarried candidates are eligible for training. Any candidate who is found to be married or marries while under training will be discharged and shall be liable to refund full pay & allowances drawn by him/her and other expenditure incurred on the candidate by the Government.

(c) If the officer voluntarily withdraws from initial training or resigns during the probationary period, he/she will be required to refund the cost of training in whole or in part, as may be determined by Govt. & all money received by him /her as pay & allowances from the Govt. together with the interest on the said money calculated at the rate enforced for govt loans. 21. Cost to Company (CTC). The CTC for a Sub Lieutenant would be approximately Rs 72,444/- to 81,700/- per month. This includes Basic Pay, DA, Grade pay, Military Service Pay, House Rent Allowances, Ration Allowance and Transport allowance. (being revised as per 7th CPC)

22. Privileges. Free Medical Facilities for Self & Dependants, Entitled Ration, Canteen Facilities, Mess/Club/Sports Facilities, and Furnished Govt. Accommodation &Car/Housing Loan at subsidised rate. Free travel for self and family as per extant rules

23. Group Insurance & Gratuity. Insurance cover (on contribution) of Rs. 75 lakhs for all branches is applicable. Gratuity will be granted to the officers as per the latest rules in force.

24. Leave Entitlements. Officers are entitled to (subject to service exigencies) 60 days annual and 20 days casual leave every year.

25. Adventure & Sports. The Navy provides facilities for various sports. In addition, one can also learn and participate in adventure sports, such as river rafting, mountaineering, hot air ballooning, hang gliding, wind surfing etc.

26. Physical fitness. In Naval Academy curriculum, a lot of emphasis is laid on physical fitness. You are therefore, advised to build up stamina/physique by physical training, sports, running, swimming, etc. so that you meet the training goals successfully.
