B.V.Sc. & A.H. or Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry is an undergraduate Veterinary Science professional course. Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry is the application of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic principles to various types of animals. In other words, Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) is a course which deals with curing, treating as well as studying the various diseases occurring in animals and birds, thus studying the physiology of the animals in detail.
Bachelor’s in Veterinary Science is a full time course of 5 years duration which includes a total of 9 semesters. The students are put in to a detailed internship program for about 6 months. This period helps the students to face the new challenges in the area of animal poultry and disease management. Apart from this small and large clinical works, laboratory works are also part of the above mentioned course.

Eligibility
The requirements for the BVSc & AH program are as follows: student must be at least 17 years of age at time of admission, and pass the Intermediate Science (10+2) exam in the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology and English. Because of domicile restrictions and a limited number of seats available at each institution (generally varying between 30 to 80 seats), admission into the BVSc & AH is partially based on the applicant’s rank in the annual All India Pre-Veterinary Test, which must be taken as well. Graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry may allow you to pursue a career in a number of fields, such as the poultry industry, a job as a veterinary doctor in either a private practice, at a zoological park, in the armed forces, or even in veterinary research.

Course Suitability
They should have a genuine love and compassion for animals and be able to read the signs from the animal's behaviour and diagnose the ailment.
They must also be able to handle emergencies and work in physically disagreeable conditions, or in rural areas where working hours may be long and irregular, and working conditions uncomfortable. They should have the ability to put the animals at ease, to do teamwork, have powers of observation, adaptability, and indifference to the conditions of work.
